I began my athletic career at the age of 6 playing soccer. Although I enjoyed and excelled in this sport, making the All-star team two consecutive years, I soon knew my passion was to play and excel in basketball. I began playing recreational basketball at the YMCA at the age of 7 and soon transitioned into joining their travel basketball team a year later.
After playing two years of Middle school basketball at Beachside Montessori in Hollywood Florida, I was given the opportunity to play Varsity basketball as an 8th grader at Miami Country Day, a small private school in Miami Shores, Florida.
I also continued playing AAU travel basketball with School of Hoops Elite. Coming from a very small middle school that didn’t focus much on athletics, there was definitely a sharp learning curve playing Varsity basketball as an 8th grader, but this transition is where my confidence and competitive spirit matured.
I had a very successful High-school Career, quickly becoming the leading scorer of my team, scoring a total of 1723 points and 778 Rebounds in my high-school career. In 2020 I made Miami Dade All-County Second Team, in 2021 I made Miami Dade 1st team All-county and All state 3rd team, and in 2022 and 2023 I made Miami Miami Dade 1st team All-County.
I helped MCD win three district championships, and one regional championship, but my biggest high school career accomplishment was helping to take my team to Lakeland, FL to contend for the state championship in 2021, the first time in my school’s history! This was definitely the highlight of my high-school career.
In 2021 Jasai I was invited to join Team Breakdown, coached by the infamous Gillion brothers, on the Under Armor circuit. I played with Breakdown in summers 2021 and 2022. We didn’t have the best season, but I grew a lot as an athlete in my understanding of what it takes to become an elite athlete and compete amongst other extremely talented athletes.
I received My First D1 offer from Florida Gulf Coast University during their team camp. I have also received offers so far from NJIT, Stamford and Chicago State University. I have also received interest from other D-1 coaches including: University of North Florida, FAU, IUPUI and UTEP, among others.
I recently asked one of my coaches, Jules Penn, how he would describe my game and he said ‘Jasai is a versatile player, and can do it all. His greatest strengths are his court vision, perimeter and mid-range shooting and IQ’.
When I’m not playing basketball, I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends and helping train younger kids in my coach’s Basketball camp. I’m looking forward to evolving on and off the court as a collegiate elite athlete while nurturing my passion to compete and contribute to my team’s success.
